Our Philosophy: "We Love What We Do"
A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Reinisch has been working as a craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgeon since 1978. The University of Southern California (USC) recruited Dr. Reinisch in 1983 to start the Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Thanks largely to Dr. Reinisch’s reputation and commitment to excellence, it is now one of the busiest departments at children’s hospitals in the world. Dr. Reinisch has also served as the Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery at USC. He currently serves as the Director of Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery for Cedars-Sinai Medical Group in Los Angeles.
Meet His Team
Dr. Reinisch works with a full medical and administrative team to provide his patients with the most comprehensive care. Our office team is fluent in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Mandarin, Russian, Hungarian, and Italian. They are ready to help both national and international families as they seek top quality treatment for their children.
Proactive, Innovative Treatment
In a career marked by significant achievement, Dr. Reinisch is most proud of his advances in microtia surgery. After performing the traditional rib cartilage reconstruction method for many years, Dr. Reinisch saw the limitations of this technique. To improve microtia surgery and enable treatment from an earlier age, Dr. Reinisch developed MEDPOR® ear reconstruction. By using biocompatible polyethylene to create a new ear structure, Dr. Reinisch can provide patients as young as three with a natural-looking ear. This method involves fewer procedures, less scarring, and fewer risks than other microtia treatments.
By receiving treatment at a young age, patients can avoid unnecessary bullying and psychological trauma. Working with an otologist, Dr. Reinisch also treats aural atresia and compromised hearing in very young patients. When possible, he recommends inner ear and eardrum reconstruction, but non-candidates have other treatment options available.
Compassionate
Dr. Reinisch understands the immense stress that can accompany microtia. While he is dedicated to his patients’ health and cosmetic outcome, he also wants to make the financial and practical side of treatment as stress-free as possible. He founded the Small Wonders Foundation, a non-profit group dedicated to providing financial assistance to the families of children with birth defects. Because he treats a large number of international patients, Dr. Reinisch also provides housing assistance to visitors. Families who choose to stay several weeks often benefit from the beautiful accommodations at the local Ronald McDonald House.
